On July 26, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. at
the West Islip American Legion
Post 1738, an evening of dining,
dancing and good fellowship will
benefit the WWP and its many
programs that include Benefits
Counseling, Family Assistance,
Advocacy, Adaptive Sports, and
Backpacks. Tickets are $40 per
person with all proceeds going
directly to Wounded Warriors. West
Islip High School alumnus Robbie
and Billy Parengkuan joined the
United States Marines after
graduating, and they returned
home safely. But their
dedication to the
Wounded Warrior Project (WWP)
continues and provides comfort
and support to seriously-injured
servicemen and women as they
recover and transition into
civilian life. Therefore it's no
surprise that the Parengkuan
Family is hosting a fund-raising
dinner-dance.
Billie's wife, Shannon, writes
that WWP "provides programs and
services that ease the burdens
of the wounded, aids in the
recovery process, and smoothes
the transition back into
civilian life." This special
event will bring a message of
hope to troops and assure them
that America has not forgotten
their sacrifices. The ultimate
goal is to offer these men and
women a full, productive life
that transcends the limits of
injury or disability. Over
22,000 servicemen and women have
been wounded, with many
suffering traumatic brain
injuries, amputations and/or
severe burns.
To learn more about the Wounded
Warrior Project and the
difference it is making in the
lives of returning warriors, go
to
www.woundedwarriorproject.org
. WWP is a 501 (C) (3)
non-profit organization. Event
Coordinator Shannon Parengkuan
can be reach by email at
faris212@aol.com or by
calling 1-516-695-9082.
Joining the twins at this event
will be Shannon, parents Dot and
Arnie Parengkuan, and sister,
Lori, a member of the West Islip
Class of 1995. |
